be comforted, be comforted, be comforted my people... 

(Yeshayahu (Isaiah): 40:1)

Tthe haftarah speaks of "comforting" the Israelite people for their suffering.

It is the first of seven haftarahs of consolation

leading up to the holiday of Rosh Hashanah, the Israelite New Year.
